We are so excited to announce that we are growing our family! But one of the many stressors of a first trimester pregnancy is that often you don’t have someone to talk to! You are supposed to keep it a secret for 12 weeks! We tried to keep it a secret, but we ended up telling a friend each. Then we had our first ultrasound at 7 weeks. We heard a heart beat, and we couldn’t keep it a secret from our families anymore! We were able to announce to family just a week later, on Christmas! We gave our parents boxes with a onesie, pacifier, and a note. They gift is pictured below.
While this was super exciting, it was also nerve wracking! Since it was Christmas, it was hard not to drink around family (my family loves to have good wine with holiday meals!), and not tell our siblings. On Christmas eve, I hung out with my brother all day, and had to keep the conversation on everything besides babies! He also tried to pour me a glass of Champaign, but I told him I had a little headache so I would stick with water.
Once they opened they gifts, both families were over the moon! Both my parents cried, my brother was thrilled and gave me grief about not telling him all day. Chris’ parents just screamed and screamed. It is my parent’s first grandchild, his parent’s 5th. It was so fun to see their reactions! Next we had to ask them to keep it a secret until we were ready to tell the world!
Congratulations!!! So happy for you and your larger family! Heartwarming to hear how your families reacted! I wish you, health, happiness, joy and peace!!! (And a very healthy baby!) 🙂
